Koh Pha-ngan Surat Thani


Koh Pha-ngan, located twenty kilometers from the island of Samui, has gained international notoriety because of the Full Moon Party held here annually. When the party is over and the revelers go home, the island returns to a sleepy fishing area for the next eleven months.
Location
Koh Pha-ngan is its own Amphoe in the Surat Thani Province. This mountainous island is located one hundred kilometers from shore. The road from the beach to the hills follows a track with many peaks and valleys resembling a roller coaster.

There are three main beaches that attract the majority of the tourist crowd. They are:
Had Rin: Had Rin is a long crescent-shaped beach with cheap accommodations. This is where the annual Full Moon Party takes place. If you wish to attend, it is import to book your rooms early. During the party, people from all over the world drink, dance, and basically go crazy all night. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway you should check the dates and arrange your vacation accordingly.

Had Mae Had: Had Mae Had has a coconut lined white-sand beach. Next to the beach is Koh Ma where many people enjoy snorkeling amongst the coral.
There are many beaches around the island. Each is peaceful and relaxing. The Thansadet-Koh Pha-ngan National Park also has waterfalls, viewpoints and nature study routes.

How to Get There
From Surat Thani, take Highway 401 to Nakhon Si Thammarat. Drive for thirty-eight kilometers before turning left on to Highway 4142. Continue driving for twenty-one kilometers until you reach the Don Sak Pier. The total distance from Surat Thani is fifty-nine kilometers.
From the Don Sak Pier, there is fairy that departs four times a day at 8:00,10:00,14:00 and 18:00.
